With the vets from Kilimanjaro
Makoa Farm is located on the southern slope of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
the highest mountain in Africa at 5,896 metres.

Immerse yourself in the unique ambience of Makoa Farm, an estate established in 1901, featuring an original colonial-style farmhouse. Situated at an elevation of 1,070 meters, the farm enjoys the refreshing climate and lush vegetation of Tanzania’s highlands.

Makoa Farm is not a typical lodge, but a former coffee plantation that has transformed into a “Noah’s Ark” for domestic animals and smaller wild animals. These creatures roam freely in the protective bushland that surrounds the farm, bordered by the tranquil Makoa and Kikafu rivers, creating a true sanctuary in harmony with nature.

Our guests are accommodated in four luxurious cottages. This is a spacious and comfortable house/tent mix on platform with en suite bathrooms. Each cottage has its own private veranda from which you can often watch birds or monkeys playing in the trees or on the roof. In good weather there is a fantastic view of the summit of Kilimanjaro and the mountain rainforest on the lower slopes.

There is also a cosy guest cottage, the farm’s former papaya dryer. This has been lovingly renovated in maisonette style, with a large double bed downstairs and a smaller double and another single bed upstairs, an en-suite bathroom and a large veranda. Sleeps 5 in total and is ideal for families. The guest cottage is opposite the main house and next to the garden. There is plenty of lush greenery and also plenty of wildlife: From birds and monkeys playing in the trees and on the roof, to the odd pet, guests will always have visitors.
